Autograph – Turn up the Radio

“Turn Up the Radio” is a song by American glam metal band Autograph and the lead single from their 1984 debut album, Sign in Please. Released on December 22, 1984, “Turn Up The Radio” was Autograph’s only Top 40 hit, reaching No. 29 in the Billboard 100 and receiving significant MTV airplay. Thus, it would remain the band’s most popular song and a staple of mainstream ’80s heavy metal.

Billy Idol – White Wedding

“White Wedding” is a song by Billy Idol that appeared on his album Billy Idol (1982). Although “The Big 80’s: Episode I” of VH1’s Pop-Up Video trivia show claims Idol wrote the song to voice his displeasure with his sister’s fiancĂ© (who impregnated her before marrying her), on an episode of VH1 Storytellers, Idol claimed that there was never any family resentment towards his sister, and that the song was simply heightened fantasy and nothing more.

The Black Eyed Peas – Pump It

“Pump It” is a 2006 song by The Black Eyed Peas. It was released as the fourth single from The Black Eyed Peas’ 2005 album Monkey Business. This song was also remixed for the deluxe edition of the group’s fifth studio album The E.N.D. as “Pump It Harder”. “Pump it” heavily incorporates music from Dick Dale’s 1962 surf version of the song “Misirlou” (known by many for being featured in the 1994 Quentin Tarantino film Pulp Fiction). “Misirlou” is a popular folk song of Greek (Asia Minor) origin dating back to 1927, the arrangement of which is credited to Nicholas Roubanis for his 1941 released jazz version.

Aerosmith – Crazy

“Crazy” is a power ballad performed by American hard rock band Aerosmith and written by Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Desmond Child. It was the final single from Aerosmith’s massively successful 1993 album Get a Grip. It was released as a single in 1994 and peaked at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100, #7 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, and #3 in Canada. In the United Kingdom, “Crazy” was released as a Double-A side with “Blind Man”, which reached #23.

The Prodigy – Breathe

“Breathe” is a song by English electronic duo The Prodigy. It was released in November 1996 as the second single from the album The Fat of the Land. The song became the group’s second consecutive number-one on both the Official UK and Finnish Singles Chart. An edited version of the song is featured as the opening track on MuchMusic’s Diamond-Certified compilation album, Big Shiny Tunes 2. The song also featured in a 2012 television commercial for Tooheys Extra Dry. The Prodigy performed “Breathe” at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards, and won the Viewer’s Choice Award.
