Will Smith – Miami

“Miami” is a 1998 single from Will Smith’s debut solo album Big Willie Style. It samples The Whispers’ 1980 hit “And the Beat Goes On”. The song charted at number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 3 on the UK charts. It won a MTV VMA Best Male Video award. The video features an early appearance of future Hitch co-star Eva Mendes. The single was considered to be of a different style to Smith’s previous singles, becoming his highest selling worldwide single of his whole career.

“(I’ll Never Be) Maria Magdalena”, often known simply by the title “Maria Magdalena”, is a Disco / Synthpop song by German singer Sandra. It was first released in March 1985 as the lead single from her debut album, The Long Play, and it was her first single to be released internationally. The song reached No. 1 on the official German Charts for four consecutive weeks between 13 September 1985 and 4 October 1985. A huge hit in Europe, it also peaked at No. 1 in the Netherlands, Israel, Sweden, Norway, and Switzerland; No. 3 in Italy; No. 5 in France; No. 2 in South Africa and No. 87 in the U.K. It was also a popular radio hit song in Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Greece, the Middle East, Northern Africa and Yugoslavia.

The song was re-released in 1993 in a remixed version, and re-released again only in France as another remix in 1999, as a promotional single. The song was later sampled in her song “Kings & Queens” from her 2012 album Stay in Touch.

Simply Red – Fairground

“Fairground” is a 1995 single released by Simply Red from the album Life. The song contains a sample of The Goodmen’s “Give It Up”. The video shows Mick Hucknall driving to and singing at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in Blackpool, Lancashire, that had been closed for the day and had been invaded by a group of his friends and opened up again. The majority of the video was shot on the Pepsi Max Big One and around the park, and some scenes are shot on the Promenade showing the Illuminations in 1994. Filming credits go to the single cameraman, Steven Young.

Billy Joel – Uptown Girl

“Uptown Girl” is a song written and performed by musician Billy Joel, first released in 1983 on his album An Innocent Man. “Someone Like You” is a song by English singer-songwriter Adele written by Adele and Dan Wilson for her second studio album 21. The pop ballad was inspired by a broken relationship, and lyrically it speaks of Adele coming to terms with it. XL Recordings released the song as the second single from the album on 24 January 2011 in the United Kingdom and on 9 August 2011 in the United States. Accompanied only by a piano in the song (played by co-writer Wilson), Adele sings about the end of the relationship with her ex-boyfriend. The song received positive reviews from music critics who chose the song as a highlight of the album and praised the lyrics, its simple sound and Adele’s vocal performance.
