Zucchero – Baila (Sexy Thing)

“Baila morena” is a song recorded in 2001 by the Italian singer Zucchero. The song was released as a single twice : first in 2001 (under the title “Baila (Sexy Thing)”), reaching #1 in Italy, but achieving a moderate success in the other countries, then in 2006 as a duet with the band Maná, as the soundtrack of the film Les Bronzés 3 : Amis pour la vie (English : French Fried Vacation 3 – Friends Forever), becoming this time a huge hit in France and Belgium. In 2007, the song was covered by Patrick Fiori and Hélène Ségara and included in a medley available on Les Enfoirés’ album La Caravane des Enfoirés.

K’NAAN – Wavin’ Flag (2010 World Cup)

“Wavin’ Flag” is a song by Somali-Canadian artist K’naan from his album Troubadour. The song was a global hit, reaching the top ten in 19 charts around the world and was chosen as Coca-Cola’s promotional anthem for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, hosted by South Africa. The English version was released as “Wavin’ Flag (Coca Cola Mix)” by K’naan. A version of the song featuring Will. i. Am and David Guetta in Spanish was targeted for international release. Many other bilingual and country-specific versions were released. A remake of the song by an ad hoc supergroup of Canadian artists, credited as Young Artists for Haiti, became a charity single in Canada. The meaning behind the song is the unity of Africa and its love for Soccer.

Sting – Desert Rose

“Desert Rose” is a single by Sting from his album Brand New Day (1999). The song is noted for Sting’s duet performance with Algerian raï singer Cheb Mami, creating a distinct world music feel to the song. It also has a popular music video featuring Sting taking a trip through the Mojave Desert in a Jaguar S-Type and then going to a nightclub in Las Vegas, Nevada to perform the song with Cheb Mami. After shooting the video, Sting’s manager Miles Copeland III approached a music licensing maven, Lloyd Simon, to work with Jaguar on a collaboration, and the auto company featured the video in their prominent television advertisements during the year 2000.

Toploader – Dancing in The Moonlight

“Dancing in the Moonlight” is the title song on the 1973 King Harvest album Dancing in the Moonlight. The track was released as a single in 1972 and it reached #13 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band released other singles, but those were never able to match the success of “Dancing in the Moonlight”. The track used a Wurlitzer electric piano throughout.
