Survivor – Burning Heart

“Burning Heart” is a song by Survivor. It was performed by Jimi Jamison and appeared in the 1985 film Rocky IV and on its soundtrack album. The single peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks in February 1986, behind “That’s What Friends Are For” by Dionne and Friends.

“Burning Heart”, which is about an “all or nothing” battle, was inspired by the Cold War, as shown by lyrics such as “Is it East versus West?” and “Can any nation stand alone?” The Communist East versus Capitalist West conflict is reflected in the film by the fight in the boxing ring between Rocky and Ivan Drago.

Fleetwood Mac – Go Your Own Way

“Go Your Own Way” is a song by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released as a single in January 1977. Written by Lindsey Buckingham, it was the first single from the group’s 1977 album Rumours. It peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the group’s first top-ten hit in the U.S. In the UK, the single was not as successful, and would only reach #38. However, the song became very popular in the U.K. over a longer period as Rumours received more radio airplay and it re-entered the singles chart on many occasions. This led to the song selling gradually over the years. It has been certified Silver in the U.K. for digital sales of over 200,000 copies. The song was also a #1 hit in Netherlands.

“Rock ‘N’ Roll Children” is the sixth single released by heavy metal band Dio, appearing on their 1985 LP, Sacred Heart. It reached number 26 on the Billboard Top Album Tracks chart.

Rock ‘N’ Roll Children is a song exemplary for Dio’s style of blending the theme of rock ‘n’ roll with fantasy elements. It is about boy and a girl, meant for each other and at the same time hostile opposites, ending up alone in the dark. The song seems to be closely connected to the song Sacred Heart of the same album, which is about a quest imposed by a wizard to find the sacred heart bleeding in the night; in Rock ‘N’ Roll Children the fall in the darkness of the couple is expressed as the breaking of a heart.
