“The Animal Song” is a song by Savage Garden, released in February 1999. The song was written for the soundtrack of the film The Other Sister, but also appeared on their second studio album, Affirmation, as well as their compilation album, Truly Madly Completely: The Best of Savage Garden. It was the band’s first song to be produced by Walter Afanasieff, a producer well known for his work with Mariah Carey. Walter would later produce the group’s Affirmation album, and also Darren Hayes’ first solo album, Spin.

The song was released as a single in Germany, Australia, and Japan, and peaked at No. 5 on U.S. the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. In 2010, “Thunderstruck” topped Triple M’s Ultimate 500 Rock Countdown in Melbourne, Australia. The top five were all AC/DC songs. With the exception of new material from an album they are touring behind, this is one of only two songs released after Back in Black that the band still regularly performs live in concert, the other being “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)”.

The Verve – Bitter Sweet Symphony

“Bitter Sweet Symphony” is a song by English alternative rock band The Verve, and is the lead track on their third album, Urban Hymns. It is based on, in which it samples an Andrew Loog Oldham orchestral version of the Rolling Stones’ song, “The Last Time” and involved some legal controversy surrounding plagiarism charges. “Bitter Sweet Symphony” was released on 16 June 1997 by Hut Recordings as the first single from the album, reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart.
